Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof, has said that the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) said conducted political activities in a way that damages Maldivian football. The Minister also accused FAM of conduct that violated the basic regulations of the association.

Mahloof said this in a tweet posted today and said that he has received information that FAM has conducted political activity for the past two years. He reiterated that he has been made aware of majority football clubs that can vote, assembling and signing in an extraordinary congress due to these actions.

Mahloof has been accused by FAM of attempting to scare and change elected leadership at the association.

The tweet by FAM said that Minister Mahloof used President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s name inappropriately. FAM also claimed that Mahloof had threatened to cut off corporate funding.
