The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has alleged that the Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof is attempting to scare and change elected leadership at the association.

FAM said this in a tweet sent out earlier today.

The tweet by FAM said that Minister Mahloof used President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s name inappropriately. FAM also claimed that Mahloof had threatened to cut off corporate funding.

The statement tweeted by FAM said that Mahloof and several clubs met in an attempt to pressure the resignation of elected officials. FAM called Mahloof’s move low and said that they condemn these actions greatly.

When FAM was contact regarding information on the matter, current Association President Bassam Adeel Jaleel did not comment on the issue. Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Mahloof had also not commented on the matter.
