Auditor General Hassan Ziyath has resigned after his name was included in the list of beneficiaries from the MMPRC Corruption Scandal.

Ziyath's resignation comes while the parliamentary committee had publicized a list of beneficiaries from the MMPRC Corruption Scandal, which also included his name along with several other state officials.

Parliament has confirmed to "One" that they have received the resignation letter from Ziyath.

In his letter of resignation, Ziyath said that his service as the Auditor General while his name is among the 119 state officials involved in the scandal would be harmful to the dignity of the Auditor General's Office and the state.

Ziyath also assured that he never engaged in corruption, bribery, or was involved in anything which may cast doubt over his integrity in the execution of his duties as Auditor General.
