Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reported over 1,000 new Covid-19 cases for a third day in a row.

The total number of Covid-19 cases is now 38,520 after another 1,501 people test positive for the illness today.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 1,501 people have tested positive including 1,229 people in Male' area and 265 from the atolls. HPA did not clarify numbers in terms of locals and foreigners.

As per HPA, out of the 1501 cases being reported today, 662 cases are positive cases from samples collected between 6pm of 10th May and 6pm of 11th May.

In the same time frame, 248 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 26,795 with another 11,629 people still in treatment.

So far, there have been 87 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 74 locals, 11 foreign nationals.
