Maldives Police Service has appealed to the public to assist them in identifying and finding the whereabouts of one of the suspects in the terror attack against former President Mohamed Nasheed.
Police had revealed video footage of the blast that was targeted at President Nasheed.
The video shows President Nasheed surrounded by his bodyguards as he heads towards his car. The blast goes off right about as he is about to enter the car, leaving behind a smoke cloud as an aftermath of the blast.
During a press conference yesterday, Police noted that they had identified four people as potential persons of interest in the investigation. They had arrested two of them today and publicized information of a third person, who was standing outside Athama Palace during the explosion.
Those arrested are, Ma. Feyruge Mujaz Ahmed and Ga. Kondey, Folheymaa Thahmeen Ali. Thahmeen is said to be the owner of the motorcycle that was used for the explosion.
Police added that the man standing in front of Athama Palace is suspected to be one of the key people behind the blast, and had urged to share any relevant information regarding the person.
Chief of Defense Force, Major General Abdulla Shamaal had previously said that the authorities belive that a remote was used to control the explosion.
