Two individuals have been arrested today in connection to the terrorist attack on Former President Mohamed Nasheed last Thursday.
Police confirmed the news in a tweet today, noting that two individuals have been arrested and that more information will be shared in a press briefing this afternoon.
Police have been conducting various operations to find the perpetrators behind the blast on May 06, which left President Nasheed and three of his bodyguards injured.
During a press conference held yesterday, Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed has said that four people had been flagged as a person of interest in the attack on President Mohamed Nasheed. He added that this was a targeted assassination attempt.
President Nasheed was rushed to ADK Hospital soon after the blast, where he spent 16 hours in surgery. Following the surgery, ADK Hospital revealed that President Nasheed had life-saving surgery on injuries to his head, chest, abdomen and limbs and that he remains in a critical condition in intensive care.
