Chief of Defence Force, Major General Abdulla Shamaal has said that the Speaker of Parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed is always considered to be at high risk and so his bodyguards are always armed.

Speaking at the MNDF press conference today, the Chief of Defence Force said that the former President is one of the people that the MNDF provides the highest security to.

He said that the teams of the security special force has been increased and will be operating with firearms.

Major General Shamaal said that under an enchancement plan, former President Nasheed was being provided with the security of a former President.
