It has been revealed that the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) had requested a ban on parking vehicles on Neelofaru Magu where the residence of the Speaker of Parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed is located.

The information has come to light after an explosive planted on a vehicle was detonated as the former President was getting in to his car yesterday evening.

One Online has received a copy of the letter sent from the Male' City Council to the Housing Ministry on 23 April 2021 after the MNDF requested the road to be cleared of parked vehicles.

The letter requests a permit to develop a parking zone at Billoorige for the vehicles on Neelofaru Magu.

Speaking at the Police press conference today, Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed said that the police had not received any intelligence reports regarding a potential threat.

And as the case is being investigated with top priority, police are working to identify four potential suspects. However, no arrests have been made so far.

The former President Mohamed Nasheed is currently being treated in the ICU at ADK Hospital.
