President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that he will not ratify the amendment barring former Presidents from seeking becoming a MP even if it passes through the floor of People's Majlis.

President Solih said this while speaking at a press conference held at the Office of the President today.

He said that he will not be ratifying any bill that violates the Constitution or political efforts of any individual. The amendment barring former Presidents from running for Parliament was proposed by Jumhooree Party (JP) member and MP for Dhidhoo constituency, Abdul Latheef Mohamed.
