Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed has said that no prior reports were received to Police Intelligence regarding that explosives attack on the Speaker of the Parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed, before it took place.

Speaking at a police press conference today, Commissioner Hameed said that a meeting of the National Securit Council was held a 10:30 p.m. last night regarding the attack n the former President where aspects of the attack was discussed at length. however it no intelligence reports were received regarding such an attack.

When a journalist asked as to why there were no such intelligence when the second highest position of the country was attacked and raised the question of the intelligence work had stopped, Commissioner Hmaeed said that it is daily work that continues without pause.

The Commissioner said that the police had received no intelligence reports on the attack and that itself is going to be investigated by the relevant authorities.

He said that an investigation is required to see if he had failed as the Commissioner of Police and would be answering to such an inquiry.
