President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has declared that the National Drug Agency (NDA) would henceforward function under the Ministry of Health.

NDA was previously run under the Ministry of Gender, Family, and Social Services.

The President made the decision under the powers vested upon him in Article 116-A of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives.

While the President has made this change, the effectiveness of the NDA was called into question at the Parliament with a number of recommendations being presented to the government.

The recommendations included major changes in operations and programs.
