Alifu Alifu Atoll Rasdhoo has been placed under monitoring after five people tested positive for COVID-19.
President of the Rasdhoo Island Council, Abdul Jaleel Moosa told One Online today that five people who were tested on Wednesday due to symptoms were confirmed positive today.
He said that the all five were not people in quarantine and while the Island's hospital is working to find out how they contracted the virus, the answer is unclear at this time.
The Rasdhoo Council President said that contact tracing is underway as well and the sample collection would begin soon.
Safety measures have been strengthened in the island following the cases including the public ordered to stay indoors unless for essential needs along with mask and distancing regulations in effect.
