Famous rap artist Ismail Ifham (PEST), who was arrested with a large quantity of illegal drugs have been charged with drug trafficking and trade along with four others involved in the case.
He was arrested with four others on 13 March 2021.
The rapper is facing five charges which are cannibis trafficking, diamorphine trafficking, cannibis using, the use, spending and possessing illegally acquired funds along with trafficking a substance that classify as a narcotic drug under the Maldivian Drug Law.
Another suspect in the case, Mohamed Suaid, is facing four charges with are cannibis trafficking, diamorphine trafficking and possession of illegally acquired funds along with trafficking a substance that classify as a narcotic drug under the Maldivian Drug Law.
While the suspect Ahmed Humaam has been charged as an accomplice in trafficking and using cannibis, Ahmed Shamoon was charged with possession of illegally acquired funds.
Public Prosecutor at the Prosecutor General's Office, Ahmed Shafeeu said that the charges was filed at the Criminal Court on 2 April 2021.
