Criminal Court has extended the remand period of two arrested for raping a woman in Male' City by 10 more days.

The case against the two accused was reported to Police last Friday night around 8:10pm. The suspects arrested in the case are Adam Vishan, 18, Vinares, HDh. Neykurendhoo and Ali Rasheed, 23, Milaafaru, HDh. Vaikaradhoo.

Police reported that upon being presented to the court after their initial remand was over, the court had extended their remand by 10 more days.

CCTV footage of the victim being dragged into an alleyway against her will by the two men has leaked over social media. The video shows two men dragging the woman on the street where the restaurant Lemon Grass is located. The footage also captured bystanders who overlooked the incident as well as those who were praying outside a mosque beside the alleyway.

The footage also captured how the victim falls to the ground during an attempt to break away as they reach the alleyway. She falls by the feet of bystanders who were chatting near a motorcycle, who made no attempts to assist the woman, even after the two men grabbed the victim by her hands and legs and carried her into the alleyway in front of them.
