President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that he will certainly not give an order to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), that violates the law.
President Solih spoke at the oath taking ceremony of the 64th class of MNDF Basic Training Course. He said that the current administration will only give orders that do not violate the law or regulations.
President Solih said that his intent in his current position is to govern under the law. He said therefore that he would never give an order that violates the laws of this nation.
The President said that the fundamentals of the Code of Ethics for MNDF clearly state that the Maldivian Defense Force is governed by a singular creed. He reiterated that this creed is what has been taught in the religion of Islam.
President Solih expressed his confidence that the the cadets that took their oaths today are equipped with a military virtues and skills. He therefore advised the cadets to remain steadfast in performing their civic and military responsibilities and duties with a brave and strong determination at the Maldives National Defense Force.
