Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is requesting the recount of votes from 4 constituencies of Male' City.
Speaking during a press conference held by MDP today, the party's President and Speaker of Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed said that they have requested the recount of votes from 4 constituencies due to questionable circumstances.
These four constituencies are Central Henveiru, South Henveiru, North Mahchangolhi and West Maafannu constituencies.
Speaker Nasheed noted that in these four constituencies, a difference of 10 - 15 percent is shown between the opposition candidates who won and the MDP candidates.
He also added that the party acknowledges the victory of five seats from the Male' City Council, while acknowledging defeat over four seats.
Though MDP is seeking a recount of votes, the Elections Commission stated that there is no such complain that may affect the outcome of the election.
