The International Medical and Diagnostic Center (IMDC) of Addu City and Sri Lanka’s Nawaloka Hospital signed a joint agreement today.

The Chairperson of the International Medical and Diagnostic Center (IMDC) Dr. Mariyam Shakeela signed on behalf of the hospital. The Head of the Finance and Corporate Planning of Nawaloka Hospital Nalaka Niroshana signed on behalf of the Sri Lankan hospital. The ceremony was attended by senior officials of both hospitals.

The Head of the Finance and Corporate Planning of Nawaloka Hospital Nalaka Niroshana spoke to the press flowing the ceremony. He said that Nawaloka Hospital is a popular choice for various Maldivian nationals. Niroshana said that specialists from Nawaloka Hospital will visit IMDC and provide services. As such, the hospital will be extending their services through IMDC.

Niroshana reiterated that Nawaloka Hospital will also provide their services to Maldivians under the national healthcare insurance scheme Aasandha.

The Chairperson of the International Medical and Diagnostic Center (IMDC) Dr. Mariyam Shakeela spoke following the ceremony. She said that this is a major step forward in the healthcare sector of Addu City. Dr. Shakeela reiterated that these services ensure that those seeking healthcare are not required to travel abroad, as they can seek treatment in Addu City itself.

She said that specialists will be visiting and treating patients at the IMDC hospital. Dr. Shakeela also said that patients requiring further analysis or treatment will be transferred to Nawaloka hospital. She also noted that the transfer to Nawaloka will be facilitated by IMDC in such a situation.

The International Medical and Diagnostic Center (IMDC) is an institution that has provided modern medical services to patients at Addu since 2008.
