Economic Minister, Fayyaaz Ismail has said that the moving of the port to Gulhifalhu will begin sometime this year.

Speaking on Raajje TV last night, the Economic Minister said that although the current administration has not made much development to Male' in terms of concrete, a lot of effort is being made to improve the city. And moving the business port to Gulhifalhu is an important part of that.

Minister Fayyaaz said that the port in Male' is currently congested and the delays in off loading cargo causes prices to rise.

He said that the government is hoping to start the move this year and it'll take a lot of investment that would benefit the entire country.

The Economic Minister said that benefits of moving the port includes cheaper storage space than Male' and the domestic harbor that would be developed in Gulhifalhu would make it easier to load and unload cargo.

The government aims to connect Gulhifalhu and Male' City with a bridge across the sea and the project is set to begin this year.
