The first 100,000 doses of Covishield vaccine procured from the Serum Institute of India has arrived

in the country today.

A statement issued by the Maldivian government said that this is the first batch of vaccines supplied to the Maldives under the Vaccine Purchase Agreement signed between Ministry of Health, Maldives, Serum Institute of India Private Limited, and Serum Institute Life Sciences Private Limited on 23 March 2021, for purchase of 200,000 doses of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Corona Virus Vaccine (Recombinant) Covishield vaccine.

The Government of India had also gifted 200,000 doses of Covishield vaccine to the Maldives in January and February of this year. The Maldives had also received 12,000 doses of Covishield vaccine through the COVAX facility.
