Kaafu Atoll Dhiffushi has been placed under monitoring after two people who travel out of the island to Raa Atoll Ungoofaaru on 2 March has tested positive for COVID-19.

The island of Ungoofaaru went under monitoring on 19 March after a person who was not in quarantine tested positive. Health Protection Agency (HPA) has since ordered all who traveled Ungoofaaru after 2 March to quarantine.

President of the Dhiffushi Island Council, Ibrahim Azeem told One Online that two people who went to Ungoofaaru from Dhiffushi has tested positive for COVID-19. And while they are currently in home quarantine, the island has been closed off.

He said that the HPA has informed that the island is being monitored and advised all to take precautionary measures and follow the instructions of the HPA.

Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) also confirmed that two people exhibiting symptoms have been tested positive for COVID-19 in Dhiffushi and contact tracing is under way alongside the case investigations.

Over five people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Ungoofaaru.
