The Committee assembled to address complaints in the MDP primaries has decided to do a recount on two of the ballot boxes. The Complaints Committee assessed issues submitted, following the primary elections and took the decision to do a recount. The MDP primary elections for party tickets to enter the 19th Parliamentary race was held this past Friday.

The Complaints Committee had received eight complaints concerning the primaries. MDP informed that the Committee had decided not to further pursue five of the complaints. The party also informed that the complaints regarding the South-Fuvahmulah constituency will be addressed.

The Committee had therefore decided to recount vote boxes for the Holhudhoo constituency as well as the South-Thinadhoo constituency. The reason for the recount according to MDP was due to the close margin of votes for the candidates of the constituencies. The Committee has also decided to take into account the number of issues regarding registration that had been submitted, prior to looking into the complaint regarding the South-Fuvahmulah constituency.

While the incumbent results of the MDP primaries have been announced at this time, the party had said that the the official results will be announced within this week.
