A local fisherman has been transported to a medical facility with he help f he Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) after a fishing hook caught in his eye. this is the second such incident this month.

MNDF said that support has been requested after a 55-year-old man fishing on board the vessel "Hushiyaaru" that was nine nautical miles out of Ekafaru in Gaafu Alifu Atoll sustained injuries after a hook got caught in his eye. The assistance has now been provided, according to the MNDF that had moved the person G.A. Villingili Hospital. The incident was reported close to 10:00 a.m. this morning.

A similar incident was reported on 7 of this month with another fisherman getting a hook in his eye.

There has been a recent surge of sea incidents involving fishermen and fishing hooks.
