Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has said that over 12,500 employees working in the tourism industry has been given the COVID-19 vaccine.
Speaking on Raajje TV's "Falasurukhee" program last night, Dr. Mausoom said that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih decided to vaccinate 10,000 employees in the tourism sector but I've 12,5000 employees has now been vaccinated.
The Tourism Minister said that there are still frontline workers in the tourism sector that need to be vaccinated. However, the hope is to vaccinate all the employees working in the tourism industry.
Dr. Mausoom said that a decision has also been made to award a badge to those in the tourism sector who receive both doses of the vaccine. And once everyone is vaccinated, the whole country would be stronger.
Talking on Vaccine Tourism, Dr. Mausoom said it would be launched once everyone in the country is vaccinated.
He said that the entire world are talking about Vaccine Tourism starting in the. Maldives and it is something that could boost Maldivian tourism further.
