Over 100,000 people have received the COVID-19 vaccine in the Male' City area.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that 186,930 people have been vaccinated so far since 1 March. And from those people, 105,836 people were from Male' City area and 81,094 people were from the atolls.
Yesterday alone, 11, 474 people received the first dose of the vaccine in the Maldives marking the highest number of vaccinations in a single day. According to HPA statistics, 6,015 people got vaccinated in the Male' City area yesterday and 5,459 people got vaccinated in the atolls.
Vaccination in the Male' City area are taking place at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), ADK Hospital, Senahiya Hospital, Hulhumale' Hospital, Treetop Hospital, Vilimale' Hospital, Maafannu Social Center, Male' Islamic Center, Parliament Administration and the flu clinics.
The COVID-19 vaccine program in the Maldives started with 200,000 doses of the Oxford-Astrazeneca "Covishield" vaccine donated by the Indian government.
Since then, the Maldives has received 10,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine with the Chinese set to donate another 200,000 doses of the vaccine to the Maldives.
