President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has ratified the first amendments made to the retirement plans for armed forces.

The Parliament added two more clauses under Article 30-B of the Armed Forces Act that is based on two subjects; maintaining the armed forces' structure and prioritizing retaining the most adept officers in the force. This amendment would further strengthen the retirement procedures of armed forces personnel.

The bill was passed by Parliament at the 14th sitting of its first session this year, on 8 March 2021.

Following its ratification, the legislation has now been published in the Government Gazette and has subsequently come into force.
