The protest rally carried out by the opposition coalition today has been dispersed as well.

The rally which began in front of the PPM Office today saw over ten people gathered in protest. Maldives Police Service used pepper spray to disperse the rally.

Today's rally called for the resignation of the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the release of his predecessor and opposition leader, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom along with justice for the people.

Police broke up the rally after advising to disperse and the participants of the rally refused to obey police orders. While some people were taken into custody during the dispersion, the exact number of people arrested are unclear at this time.

Some members of the opposition leadership took part in the protest rally today.
