Current President of MDP and former Maldivian President, Mohamed Nasheed, has said that all party members should now band together and work to help elect the winners of today’s primaries into Parliament.

President Nasheed said this during a speech at an MDP campaign hall following the announcements of the primary election results.

Nasheed said that the people who did not win the primaries should rush to join him in working towards winning the election. He urged the campaign teams to contact him and the secretariat immediately. Nasheed also said that there is no question in his mind that every one will work towards winning the election.

While President Nasheed has said this, the situation has become heated among parties of the coalition. This is due to MDP running for all constituencies except one while coalition parties claim that the agreement prior to Presidential elections had been different.

Jumhooree Party Leader Qasim Ibrahim had already said that he will be going against MDP and approaching various members who wish to run for Parliament with JP's support.
