The Maldives and Malawi had discussed the challenges of climate change and how to overcome them.

The discussions took place in a virtual meeting yesterday between the Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Malawi, Eisenhower Nduwa Mkaka.

During the meeting, Minister Shahid and Minister Mkaka discussed on ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the multilateral fora on issues of mutual concern such as the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, and the strengthening of multilateralism to address existing challenges such as the effects of climate change.

The Ministers also made note of the economic and financial impacts of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the efforts underway towards recovery and attaining resilience.

Both Ministers further expressed confidence in continued cooperation and support between the two countries in the years ahead.
