Health Protecting Agency (HPA) has said hat COVID-19 vaccinations are taking place at the Islamic Center as well starting today.

HJPA said that vaccinations are taking place for people over the age of 55 and those between 45 and 55 years of age treating chronic illnesses.

The expansion of the vaccination campaign to the Islamic Center due to the high demand. Vaccinations at the Islamic Center are set to continue until 5 p.m.

Vaccinations are taking place in the Male’ area at the IGMH, ADK Hospital, Senahiya Hospital, Hulhumale’ Hospital, Treetop Hospital, Male’ Social Center and the Flu Clinic along with the Islamic Center.

As of yesterday, 20,000 people were vaccinated in the Maldives.

Currently the "Covishield" developed by Oxford-AstraZeneca are being used from the 100,000 doses donated by India.

Meanwhile, 5,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine have been brought to the Maldives while the Chinese government has pledged to provide another 100,000. And the vaccines provided by through the WHO’s Covax Facility are also expected this month.
