The Guidelines handbook of the resort clearly states that no employee should have a beard. The source reported that all staff -both Maldivian and foreign alike - are compliant with this guideline.

He said that Maldives is a Muslim country and yet locals employed at the resort are still banned from having a beard.
He reiterated that the employees simply want equal opportunity for locals to grow beards if they wanted. The employee said that this kind of discrimination is unacceptable at any cost.
The source stated that employees of the resort have banded together and complained to the Human Resources department. The source also informed that they have yet to get a response. They added that the General Manager of the resort is on a visit to Male' at this time.
