Ministry of Tourism has said that over 6,000 guesthouse beds were in operation at the end of January 2021.

Statistics from the Tourism Ministry show that 324 guesthouses in operation at 48 islands totaling 6,060 tourist beds.

S far, the highest number of tourist beds are in operation in Male’ Atoll and Alifu Alifu Atoll. Male’ Atoll has 3,280 beds at 138 guesthouses while the Alifu Alifu Atoll has 978 beds at 75 guesthouses.

A total of 614 tourist facilities are currently operating in the Maldives that consists of 144 resorts, 11 hotels, 135 safari yachts and 34 guesthouses; a total of 43,320 tourist beds.
