The Ministry of Education has informed Ghiyasuddin International School to revert their decision to hold online classes instead of face-to-face classes.

Ghiyasuddin School decided to switch to online classes due to the worsening situation of COVID-19 last Wednesday. A statement issued by the school noted that the decision to switch to virtual classes was taken unanimously by the Reopening Committee, which includes representatives from the Executive Management, Senior Management and parents.

However, the school revealed that the Education Ministry had informed them to reverse the decision last Thursday. They further added that the Ministry has informed them to hold regular, face-to-face classes starting tomorrow.

Ghiyasuddin School said that 13 employees and 17 students from the school have been placed under quarantine as COVID contacts till last Thursday. They added that two teachers and one student had already tested positive from the school as well. The school assured that they will still work within their capability to keep their students safe.

Some parents had expressed their disappointment over the Ministry’s decision on social media. Most parents had been praising the school’s decision, saying that the school is a private school and that many have already been placed under quarantine for being in contact with COVID patients.
