So far 11 people have been arrested at the protest rally “Insaafu Kobaa?” by the opposition coalition, Progressive Congress of PPM and PNC.

Spokesperson of the Progressive Coalition, Heena Waleedh said that so far 11 people have been taken into police custody at the protest rally today including members of the PNC Council and Steering Committee.

She said that one of the protestors fainted due to police attacks and is being treated at ADK Hospital.

A large number of police officers were involved in dispersing the opposition rally started today in front of the PPM Office. And after the participants of the rally refused to obey police orders, pepper spray were used to disperse them.

The opposition protest rally was carried out today in the atolls as well despite the Health Protection Agency (HPA) ban on public gathering due to rising cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives.
