MVR 98 million has been released as frontline allowance to those working on the frontlines amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since 7 May 2020, frontline health workers have been eligible for a daily allowance between MVR 200-500.

Statistics released by the Ministry of Finance and Treasury show MVR 98.56 million released to 10,843 individuals as of 25 January 2021.

The frontline allowance is given in three categories; MVR 500 for every working day in the high-risk category, MVR 250 for every working day in the medium risk category and MVR 200 for every working day in the low-risk category.
