A safari yacht traveling from Hulhumale’ to Haa Dhaalu Atoll Hanimaadhoo with six people has caught fire and burned down sinking it.

MNDF said that the vessel Nautilus-1 caught fire 13 nautical miles west of Kaafu Atoll Kaashidhoo. There were five locals and one foreigner, all crew, on board at the time of the incident. The incident was reported at 3:39 a.m. last night, according to MNDF.

When the fire started, all six boarded the diving vessel for safety and are all in good health. They are currently traveling to Baa Atoll Dharavandhoo.

MNDF said that the fire and rescue teams were on sight trying to control the fire when it sank at 6:44 a.m.
