Former President Nasheed has said that the Parliamentary election will be decided in all reality with the end of the MDP primaries.

Former President Nasheed spoke at a campaign event of Parliamentary hopeful for Mid-Maafannu constituency Farooq Umar last night. Nasheed said that certain constituencies of MDP are made up more than 2,000 members. He noted that these 2,000 members make up nearly all of the constituency's votes in certain cases. He said therefore, that by the time the MDP primaries have concluded, the Parliamentary seats for the election will also be decided.

Nasheed reiterated that the measures surrounding MDP primaries will be a step towards the progress and political stability of this country.

He said that considering the population, the MDP primaries to be held this coming Friday will be one of the biggest political events in Asia. He also noted that MDP boasts the largest quantity of members, second only after the Communist Party of China. Nasheed said that members are acquired by the Communist Party through force and said that members of MDP had joined willingly. Nasheed noted that 86,091 members will be voting in the MDP primaries this Friday. He reported that there will 269 vote boxes and that the primary election will be carried out by

640 officials and 1,192 observers.
