Maldives has signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Arab Emirates to strengthen ties on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The Maldivian Minister of Environment Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan signed the MoU on behalf of Maldivian government at a ceremony held at the Dubai Exhibition Center yesterday. The Minister of Climate Change and Environment for the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi signed on behalf of the UAE.

The Minister for Environment said that under the agreement, both nations will work towards implementing policies and exchanging knowledge and information on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The MoU was signed as part of President Solih's official visit to the United Arab Emirates.
