Monitoring status have been lifted from Laamu Atoll Gan and Fonadhoo and he islands have resumed to normal status.

The two islands were placed under monitoring after four people who visited Fonadhoo from Gaafu Alifu Dhevvadhoo tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, 8 January.

Dhevvadhoo reported is first case of COVID-19 on 24 December 2020 where three people in home quarantine tested positive including a four-month-old baby. While it is still unclear as to how the disease traveled to the island, Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) has said that they believe the illness have been spreading on the island for some time before being confirmed.

So far, 52 people have tested positive from the Dhevvadhoo cluster. They are 43 people in Dhevvadhoo, four in Fonadhoo, two people in Dhaandhoo and one person who was tested positive in Gaafu Alifu Vilingili.

A total of 225 people have been in contact with the Dhevvadhoo cluster including 101 high-risk people.
