Tourism Ministry has said that since the Maldives reopened its borders on 15 July 2020, 42,000 beds have been brought to operation.

Statistics from the ministry show 565 tourist facilities in operation that consists of 141 resorts/marina, 11 hotels, 131 safari yachts and 286 guesthouses. And four of the guesthouses were reopened on Sunday bringing the total tourist beds in operation to 42,072.

The tourism ministry statistics from the first ten days show 30,644 tourists visiting the Maldives; an increase of 9,129 from the 21,515 tourists that visited the Maldives in October 2020.

So far, the highest number of tourists in 2021 have visited the Maldives from Russia with 8,716 that takes a market share of 28.6 percent. The second highest number of tourists visited from India with 3,908.
