The five protestors arrested at the opposition coalition rally yesterday have been released.

Members of the opposition parties, PPM and PNC, gathered near the Criminal Court yesterday to protest during the ongoing hearing in the trial of the former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom charged with money laundering and accepting bribes in connection to the leasing of Raa Atoll Fuhgiri for resort development through the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

At the protest rally yesterday, six people were arrested in total and one person was soon released before there remaining five were taken into custody to be detained. The five people released today includes three Members of the PPM Council.

Media Official of the Maldives Police Service have confirmed the release of all five people to One Online and said that they were released after deciding against continuing an investigation by keeping them in custody. However, an investigation is ongoing.
