Ministry of Education has said that as the second term of the academic year resumes this Sunday, classes will be resuming for nursery and baby nursery as well.

The Ministry has previously said that as per the academic calendar, the second term of the 2020-2021 year will be starting on Sunday for the grades LKG to 12th grade.

However, today, the Ministry said that classes will be starting for nursery and baby nursery as well. And the second term of the academic year will last from 10 January to 24 June. The circular issued by the Ministry on the second term states that key stage and foundation needs to attend classes five days a week.

Classes will be held for five hours a day including an activity hour and the online classes will continue although the schools will be opened.

The circular further says that schools will be opened in three phases and students would require a fever check before entering the schools. In the first phase, schools in the islands under lock down will remain closed while the Ministry will be working with the Health Protection Agency (HPA) to resume classes at the islands under monitoring in the second phase.
