Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has said that one of the three people injured in last nights collision at sea involving a sea ambulance and a speed launch, is in critical condition.

MNDF said that a sea ambulance traveling to Male’ City from Meemu Atoll Muli and a speed launch “Dream” traveling out of Male’ City collided at sea near Ithaafushi last night injuring the people on board both vessels.

Media Official of IGMH told One Online today that three people injured in the collision was brought to the hospital and while two people are being treated at the Emergency Room, one person is in the ICU in critical condition.

The official said that the person being treated at the ICU is a 43-year-old man. However, no details were offered on the extent of his injuries.

The collision at sea took place around 1 a.m. according to MNDF. The sea ambulance had eight people on board at the time of the collision and two people were injured while the launch had speed board, that travels between Male’ City and Faafu Atoll Feeali, had two people on board. The captain of the speed launch sustained various degrees of injuries according to MNDF.
