Covid-19 related spending for the past week stood at MVR 77 million.

Statistics published by the Finance Ministry regarding government expenditure from December 10th to December 17th show that MVR 1.36 billion was spent on healthcare services.

However, an additional MVR 10.8 million was spent on healthcare services from December 17th till December 24th, bringing the total to MVR 1.37 billion. This marks an increase of 0.8 percent in comparison to the previous week.

Health Ministry was the biggest spender for the past week with MVR 8.1 million being spent by the Ministry. IGMH accounted for MVR 1.1 million with Police closing the tally at MVR 6.9 million.

Spendings of the National Disaster Management Authority for the past week were at MVR 5.3 million. Tourism Implementation Fund and Tourism Ministry expenditure reduced by MVR 200,000.

Under the MVR 2.5 billion relief package as a response to the pandemic saw a total of MVR 1.46 being released to date till last week.

This is an MVR 66.4 million increase in comparison to the past week. This includes MVR 38.9 million as income support allowance and MVR 27.4 million released as discounts for electricity bills.
