ADK Hospital in association with LUX Resorts Group, have opened a PCR testing lab at the Velana International Airport.
At a virtual ceremony held today, the lab developed at the TMA terminal was opened by the Tourism Minister, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom. The ceremony was attended by the CEO of the ADK Group, Ahmed Naashid.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Dr. Mausoom thanked the resorts for their efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 among tourists. And as the number of tourists visiting the country continues to climb, the Tourism Minister said that increasing the PCR testing capacity is an important priority.
With the newly opened lab, ADK now has three labs dedicated to COVID-19 testing including the ADK Hospital and the Noonu Atoll Maafaru Airport.
Previously, ADK has been doing PCR testing for USD 80 for tourists and MVR 1,100 for locals and work permit holders. With the new lab, the testing prices for tourists have been lowered to USD 70 and MVR 1,000 for locals and work permit holders.
Speaking at the ceremony today, the CEO of the ADK Group said that the lab at the TMA terminal is using the completely automated Roche Lightcycler 480.
