Kapil Dev biopic directed by Kabir Khan - film '83, is a movie depicting efforts of winning the World Cup for India in 1983.

Popular Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh will be taking on the role of Kapil Dev.

The role of the wife in the movie, was rumored be played by Ranveer's real-life spouse Deepika Padukone. The couple had gotten married in a highly anticipated ceremony recently.

However, it was announced that Deepika had rejected the role. The movie is a biopic on Kapil Dev, and therefore the role of his wife is a minor role. Reports state that this is the reason that Deepika decided against taking on the role.

Deepika will be seen next by audiences in the Meghna Gulzaar movie 'Chapak'.
