Former Villimale' MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik's passport has been withheld.

Speaking to "One" Police said that Nihan has been banned from traveling due to the ongoing investigation into the MMPRC corruption scandal. However they did not disclose the length of this ban.

Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb had said that the money from the MVR 1.2 billion corruption scandal was distributed among many former lawmakers and politicians. Adeeb had also alleged that all of the political parties had benefited from the embezzled funds.

Rumors also claim that Nihan had made a purchase of a Rolex watch with the embezzled funds. Nihan himself had previously revealed that he indeed has such a watch and that if the Anti-Corruption Commission asks him how he had the funds and means to make the purchase, he would reveal all details.

Nihan was also presented to the Asset Recovery Commission previously to be questioned regarding the case.
