President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that a project worth MVR 460 million to resolve the sale of fish by weighing it is getting ready to launched.
The President made the remark in his Fishermen’s Day address today.
In his address, President Solih said that to resolve the challenges facing the fishermen, the factories at Lhaviyani Atoll Felivaru and Gaafu Alifu Kooddoo will be developed and increase the storage capacity from 3,050 tons to 8,000 tons next year. He said that centers to buy fish will be allocated in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo and Meemu Atoll which would resolve a number of issues.
The President said that the participation and support of the people is what is most need to develop the fishing industry and increase productivity.
He also said that the government will welcome and support every initiative by the fishermen and their families.
