A man on a fishing boat northeast of Gaafu Alifu Ekafaru is being rushed to Gaafu Alifu Atoll Hospital to emergency treatment after a fishing hook got caught in his eye.
MNDF said that an incident of getting a fishing hook caught in the eye of a 36-year-old local man onboard the fishing vessel “Koamas” fishing 1.5 nautical miles northeast of Ekafaru was reported at 11:30 a.m. this morning.
The man is being rushed to the Gaafu Alifu Atoll Hospital in Vilingili with the assistance from the MNDF Southern Area Coastguard Squadron.
There has been a surge in the cases of fishermen getting hooks caught in their eyes.
