A WIFI router and a number of phones being smuggled into the Maafushi Prison has been intervened by the Maldives Correctional Service.

The Commissioner of Prisons, Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu announced on Twitter this morning that there was an attempt to smuggle contrabands into the prison last night using a drone.

“Our officers seized 8 mobile phones, six chargers, a WIFI router, USB cables and two SIM cards.” His Tweet said.

The Correctional Service said that there have been previous attempts have been made with the use of a drone to smuggle contraband into the prison.
