The No Confidence motion filed at the parliament against the Home Minister, Ibrahim Abdulla, has failed.
At the vote to proceed with the motion filed by the opposition PPM and PNC coalition, only 11 MPs of the 66 MPs present voted to continue with the motion.
While 53 MPs voted to discontinue the motion, at least 44 votes from the MPs are required to continue with a No Confidence motion.
Announcing the results of the vote, the Speaker of the Parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed said that the parliament is confident of the Home Minister.
The opposition coalition filed the motion with 11 signatures that include that of two independent MPs. And speaking at the opportunity to respond to the motion at the Parliament, Home Minister Imran said that the motion is an excuse to create political and governmental unrest and overturn the good done by the government in the past two years in the shadows of that chaos.
